We're growing pipes!

A couple of new pictures. We're making progress: they tell us that the pad is to be poured on Friday (Aug 12), but we've been having lots of thunderstorms so I won't be surprised if it isn't too damp to do it.

But the plumber has been busy. We can see where all the bathrooms are, the kitchen sink and the laundry room.

There are neighbors, Glen and Amber and their family, whose Skyline house is also still under construction. They are about two blocks away and two months ahead of us. Once their slab was poured it seemed like the walls went up overnight. I am sure our house will seem to take forever.

Here's how the property looks now, before any concrete. Pipes everywhere, it seems.

Donna is in the corner of the master bedroom. Just outside where she is standing is where we want to put a big jacuzzi. We're having a power outlet placed there just for that purpose. Patio will extend 20 feet from that wall.

And here Donna is washing her hair in our custom shower.

Last Saturday, the 6th, we went to an open house at the local water district offices and met some of our future neighbors. They had a speaker discussing drought-resistant landscaping and basic water-saving tips. There also was a demonstration of local snakes, lizards, and spiders - with LIVE snakes, lizards, and spiders. Including a scorpion which is in the spider family, apparently. It was a facinating demonstration, the upshot of which was there are very few poisonous creatures in our area (two varieties of rattler) and if you leave them alone they will leave you alone. Nevertheless, leaving the open house, Donna asked me how much I thought we could get for the house!

This snake visited the yard of our next-door neighbors Rich and Rhonda, who were a little too gleeful when sharing this picture with us. Rhonda says it was about five feet long and is a Gopher snake, which variety is non-venomous and likes to attack rattlers.

See...and I was all set to come visit you. But now that I know about all bugs, snakes, and spiders...I may be rethinking that.
