I'm sure the experience has been a bit different for you, but boy oh boy, this all seems to have happened pretty quickly...

So, howling creatures of the night way out there in the boonies? How does Duchess like it after the sun goes down? Do the coyotes come sniffing around?

It is very dark out there! We have seen coyotes once that I can recall and it was during daylight (could have been a couple of skinny dogs). We just seem to spend all our evening time there looking up at the stars.

The front porch light was on as we approached the house. So cool! We went inside and flipped on all the switches. Some didn't seem to do anything and those may just be controlling electrical outlets. But some of the light fixtures definitely did not come on. The builder has some work to do yet.

But the lights in the kitchen look very nice. The downlights, the under-the-cabinet lights and the hanging light over the kitchen island illuminate the kitchen very well and very nicely. Sure beats the ceiling of flourescent lights we have always had.

Lights in the master bath look very nice and it's good to have lights on in our walk-in closets. No more squinting in a dusky half-light (or taking a flash-picture with the digital camera and looking at the two-inch display).

So, to answer your original question... Time seemed to be dragging along until they told us in late December that we would probably be in by the end of January. Then all of a sudden there wasn't enough time to do everything.

And Duchess doen't really like going up there so much. She doesn't understand why we are there and is always anxious to get in the car and get on to the next thing. She was the same way when we first moved here to Victorville. It took her several weeks to accept her new home.

So here we go again.

Too cool. I really can't wait to visit out there again. I want to live in the boonies SO BAD.

Speaking of coyotes, I was riding my bike a couple days ago and I was up on the Telegraph Road (I ride it a little ways up on top to get to the VERY top before we ride the trails back down). I was coming fast around a bend and scared the crap out of a juvenile coyote. Well, he may have already been crapping in the middle of the road. Anyway, it was really cool, because he darted off the road just few feet and turned and just watched me go by. For the next ten minutes I could hear him howling/hooting at me. The same sounds, over and over. It was definitely a "Mommy, come get me, I am scared" sound. Pretty cool, I thought.
