Changes Inside and Out

I know it has been a long time since my last post and I apologize. On one trip up to the house, I forgot to take the camera at all, which was a shame because they had the drywall up and finished the taping. On the next trip I had the camera but when I went to use it - the batteries were dead and my spare batteries were gone, which was a shame because they were putting up the stucco.

On the last trip, I made sure the camera was ready to go, and the pictures follow.

The outside of the house has be given the preliminary coats of stucco (which may not be the correct term, but I do not know what else to call it). I do not know how many more coats it needs but my understanding is that the last coat will have the color in it, which should be a cream sort of color.

The inside walls have been "textured" which is a layer of something that gets sprayed on before painting to give the walls some texture. Our style of texture is called "orange peel." The pictures probably won't show that much detail. When the house is turned over to us all the walls will be white. Our plan is to paint the individual rooms the colors we want before we move in.

These pictures may look like the walls are painted already, but that is just the color of the drywall and the texture coat.

This is the front entry and the folding chair is sitting in the dining room.

Here we are looking at the "great room" from the far corner in the kitchen area.

And this is from that opposite corner looking into the kitchen.

This is the "mini-master" which will be our office.

YOWZA. Now it looks very very spacious. And your great room is, well, great.

Mom wants to know where she'll be living.

I had to remind her that we just signed another year lease. And then she said, "no. YOU signed the lease." And then she cackled in a rather evil way.

So, where is her space?

I sold them on the internet to pay for my swing dance habit.

So when is the expected finish date? Will we be having Christmas there?

I can't really see us being in by Christmas, there is just too much still to be done. We went up yesterday and the front door is on as is the garden door in the master bedroom. The garage doors are not installed yet but the doorway leading from the garage into the house has been boarded up. So now they can lock up the house and get started installing stuff like lighting fixtures and appliances.

They had also started the painting inside. It looked like the kitchen and all the bathrooms were painted, which would represent all the semi-gloss paint. If they keep going the painting could all be done sometime next week.

I will post the pictures of the doors this weekend.

p.s. What did you sell on the internet, Rachel? My spare batteries?

It looks more like a house every time i see it! Maybe we can have part of Christmas there... build a little fire inside? wait, now that they have doors on it, does that mean you can't just walk in whenever you please?
